NATIONAL YOUTH EVENT

UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
NATIONAL YOUTH EVENT
"LIVING THE LIFE"
On the campus of University of Tennesse in Knoxville.
July 24-28, 2008
It's four days of workshops, recreation, worship, fellowship and fun with over 3000 youth from all over the country. Cost is $345 for registration plus transportation. We will do some fundraising to make this affordable for everyone who wants to go.

ALL THINGS APPLES
7:00 to 8:30 PM at EAST WOODSTOCK
Call a friend and join us for applesauce creations, apple contests, and a monster game of Apples to Apples. Don’t miss the fun!

SUNDAY, JANUARY 13

BOWLING
Meet at EAST WOODSTOCK at 11:30.
Bring $ for bowling, arcade games and snacks.
We will return to East Woodstock by 2:30
Note:This is the day of Pastor Sue’s anniversary so come and join the celebration during worship!

SUNDAY, JANUARY 20
BREAKFAST CLUB
10:00 am at EAST WOODSTOCK
Come to worship and meet for donuts and conversation. We’ll gather in the library when the children leave for church school. Light breakfast is provided so you can catch a few more minutes of sleep this morning.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 27

SYG SUNDAY NIGHT
7:00 to 8:30 PM at EAST WOODSTOCK
Come and help us make plans for the SOUPER BOWL. This is a simple way to help the hungry in our area. This year we will do a collection of canned goods for Daily Bread Food Pantry. Log on to

NEW DATE FOR CAROLING

Meet at East Woodstock Church at 6:30 PM

Messy Winter weather forced us to reschedule our caroling event. Get your homework out of the way and join us for some holiday cheer! Dress warmly and bring a flashlight. We will sing carols to shut ins and return to East for cocoa and cookies at 8:30 PM. Friends are welcome.

SCHEDULE FOR DECEMBER 2007
Sunday, December 2
Class meeting at 10:00 am We will set up questions for our interview project. We ask you to choose an adult who is an active member of our church and spend some time learning about their faith story.

Sunday, December 9
We are greeters this morning! Meet in the Narthex (front door entry) at 9:40 am and welcome folks as they come to worship. It's simple-- just put on a name tag, smile, shake hands and say "good morning!" Remember that this is also Gift Sunday so you may want to bring an unwrapped gift to be distributed by Covenant to Care. This can be a new toy for a child or some warm winter mittens.

Sunday December 16
Class meeting at 10:00 am. We will do a sample interview and our guest will be Ruthie Kimball.

Refugees, Evacuees, and Orphans
7:00 to 8:30 PM at the HILL
Try this new game of hide and seek and learn what you can do to help people who have been displaced form their homes because of war, illness, or natural disaster. Bring $2 for our Christmas gift to the world! Carpool with a buddy tonight.

Sunday, December 9
Simple Gifts
7:00 to 8:30 PM at the HILL
Get creative! Invite a friend and join us as we make Christmas cards and bake cookies tonight. You can sample a few cookies and take a plate to a neighbor. We’ll also send cards to men and women in the military.

Help! We need a few people to bring pre-mixed cookie dough. Call Deb if you can bring a batch.

Sunday, December 16
Holiday Cheer! CAROL SING!

6:30 to 8:45 PM at EAST WOODSTOCK
Meet at East after the pageant and potluck. Help us deliver our cookies and sing carols to elderly neighbors in town. [Don’t worry if you can’t sing—we’ll give you jingle bells to ring!] We’ll finish with cocoa at EAST. College students and friends are welcome so pass the word. BYO flashlight!

Make a Christmas gift to the world!

We will be collecting during the month of December.

Your gifts are needed now to provide essential life sustaining food, water, health care and education for war-affected Iraqi families displaced in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Help the United Church of Christ meet our goal of $100,000 in support. A generous gift of $40 can feed an Iraqi family of four for two weeks; $85 - warm coats and hats for 5 children; $100 - medicine and necessary tests for the chronically ill.
